A: Yes, we have found that all brands of reeds are extremely compatible with the Wilkerson Ultimate Mouthpiece.

Q: What strength reed will work best with the Wilkerson Ultimate?
A: The Wilkerson Ultimate #5 for alto works best with about a #3 1/2 strength reed. The Wilkerson Ultimate #6 for tenor works best with about a #3 strength reed. The very popular Wilkerson Ultimate #9 for tenor works best with about a #2 - #2 1/2 strength reed. We have found that the Wilkerson Ultimate works effectively with harder reeds without causing fatigue. Generally speaking, the harder the reed, the better the quality of sound and control.

Q: Will the Wilkerson Ultimate make vintage or student level horns sound better?
A: Yes! According to reports, the Wilkerson Ultimate opens up the bottom end of the student or vintage sax and increases the high end with improved intonation.

Q: Has anyone competed with the Wilkerson Ultimate in a festival situation, and what results were obtained?
